TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD - BOOK COVER

The Concept

This book jacket was derived from Scout, Dill and Jems
curiously about Boo, they did not quite believe he was a real
person. He had become a figure of superstition, a convenient
excuse for all bad things happening. Jem went inquisitively onto
the property, but was quickly caught. The hand shadow on the
cover produces horror and shows an unseen figures presence.
The cover allows a story to unfold from the front to back.
Jem ran scared but became stuck on the barbed wire fence, he
was so desperate to get away he took his pants off and left them.
When he came back they were neatly folded over the fence.
Someone knew Jem would be back for them. The torn overalls
had been repaired. The motifs and visuals create a metaphor of
uncovering Boo’s kind nature.
